STADA UK Thornton & Ross – Tax Manager (Maternity Cover)

Location: Reading or Huddersfield |U.K.

Contract: Full-time | 12-month fixed-term contract

Preferred start date: 1 June 2026

Role Purpose

We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager to join the UK Tax team on a 12-month maternity cover, working closely with the UK Head of Tax. The team supports operations across our sites in Yorkshire, Preston, and Berkshire, ensuring compliance with tax regulations while supporting business initiatives.

In this role, you will be a key member of the Finance team, working with accountants, payroll, and other stakeholders across the business. The position focuses primarily on tax compliance and reporting, with some involvement in strategic projects.

You will oversee tax compliance for several UK entities, ensuring statutory obligations are met. Experience in both direct and indirect tax compliance is essential. During the handover period, you will also receive training on STADA’s internal tax reporting system to ensure continuity while covering maternity leave.

This role can be based at our STADA UK offices either in Huddersfield (Thornton & Ross) or Reading.

How You Will Make An Impact

Reporting to the UK Head of Tax, this role is primarily focused on tax compliance (approximately 90%), with some involvement in advisory work (approximately 10%), depending on ongoing projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver accurate and timely tax reporting, forecasting, and compliance, working with internal teams and external advisors.
  • Manage tax processes using SAP, Making Tax Digital (MTD), and STADA’s internal reporting tools.
  • Support key compliance requirements including CFC, DAC6, OECD Pillar Two, and other statutory disclosures.
  • Own the VAT process, including preparation, review, and submission of UK and international VAT returns, and coordinate with external advisors where needed.
  • Support statutory tax and accounts deadlines (including peak reporting periods) and assist with data gathering for SAO processes, tax audits, and regulatory enquiries when required.
  • Work across multiple tax areas including UK corporate tax, VAT, customs duties, Plastic Packaging Tax, and employment tax.
  • Monitor UK and international tax legislation to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Partner with finance teams on VAT reconciliations and tax processes, ensuring strong controls and documentation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to maintain robust tax processes, controls, and reporting.

What We Are Looking For

  • Qualified CTA or ACA/ACCA accountant with a strong tax background and approximately 5+ years post-qualification experience, either in practice or industry.
  • Strong experience in UK tax compliance, particularly corporate tax and VAT compliance.
  • Solid understanding of tax reporting processes, regulatory requirements, and statutory deadlines.
  • Experience managing tax compliance across multiple entities.
  • Ability to communicate complex tax matters clearly to non-tax stakeholders and work effectively with colleagues across different functions.
  • A proactive mindset with a willingness to investigate systems and processes, identify potential improvements, and support implementation where needed.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic business environment, adapting to legislative changes and evolving business needs.
  • Strong integrity, professionalism, and respect for colleagues and stakeholders, aligned with STADA’s core values.
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems desirable.
