About the Role

Are you a motivated third or fourth-year law undergraduate or a recent law graduate looking for practical legal experience? Join our in-house Legal & Compliance team as a Legal Intern or Placement Student. This role offers hands-on exposure to the operations of a corporate legal department, supporting legal administration, entry-level legal tasks, research, and project work under supervision. Please note, this is not a registered training contract (or Period of Recognised Training) under the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).

How You Will Make An Impact

    • Organise and maintain legal files and records, including contracts, correspondence, invoices, and approvals.
    • Support document management processes, including version control, indexing and archiving.
    • Prepare cover sheets, checklists, trackers and legal registers.
    • Provide administrative support to lawyers within the team.

Entry-Level Legal Work:

    • Assist with contract administration, logging, tracking key dates and basic data extraction.
    • Support the review of low-risk or standard form agreements under supervision.
    • Draft and update simple legal documents, amend templates and create internal summaries.
    • Respond to routine internal legal queries by gathering background information.

Legal Research & Compliance Support:

    • Conduct basic legal research on clearly defined topics (e.g., regulatory background, legal definitions, jurisdictional overviews).
    • Assist with compliance-related tasks such as policy reviews, training records and due diligence support.
    • Help prepare internal guidance notes or briefing summaries for business use.

Learning & Development:

    • Gain exposure to how legal advice supports commercial decision-making and business objectives.
    • Learn how an in-house legal team collaborates with commercial, operational and regulatory functions.
    • Attend relevant internal meetings or training sessions to deepen your understanding of legal processes.

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Essential Qualifications & Skills:
    • Currently studying for a law degree (LLB or BA Law) in your third or fourth year or recently graduated.
    • Prior internship, placement, paralegal, or administrative experience (legal or non-legal).
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
    • Professional and discreet approach to handling confidential information.
    • Confidence using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Desirable Attributes:
    • Interest in pursuing a legal career post-graduation.
    • Willingness to explore basic automation, document management tools, or process improvements (e.g., contract trackers, workflow automation).

What You Will Gain:

  • Practical experience within a commercial in-house legal team.
  • Exposure to real-world legal work beyond academia.
  • Insight into an international corporate environment and the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Improved understanding of contracts, compliance and legal risks in a business setting.
  • Mentoring and feedback from experienced in-house legal professionals.
  • Valuable experience to support applications for training contracts, graduate roles, pupillage or further legal study.
