About the Role:

The Lab Services Team provide the resources to keep the laboratory functioning and enable the Analysts to carry out the QC testing requirements. The Laboratory Steward ensures that used glassware below 1Lt in volume is cleaned appropriately and returned to the correct storage location. Twice a day they collect and distribute the QC post and keep the filing for the laboratory up to date, including the filing and removal of Retained Samples.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Safety and responsibility towards the environment is an integral part of all activities at Thornton and Ross. This will be a key consideration in the development of the factory, equipment purchases, improvement work and training.
• Ensure activities and changes to equipment and working practices are made in line with guidelines laid out in the ‘Orange Guide’.
• Ensure all improvement opportunities are in line with ISO standards. Ensure all manufacturing operations are defined and documented to ensure optimum performance.
• Work to an agreed program of priorities. Provide regular feedback and progress reports. Proactively manage resources to ensure deadlines are met.
• Responsible for general admin for the department
• To ensure that cleanliness of all Lab Facilities including glassware,  sinks, drainboards
• To carry out the daily checks on the purified water system.
• To produce monthly reagent expiry information for Lab Services team from LQM database (Excel based).
• To assist in laboratory audits.
