The Hospital Specialist Representative plays a critical role in driving sales and market share within their assigned territory by leveraging their expertise to engage with healthcare professionals and achieve business objectives.
A key component of this role is contributing to sales force effectiveness by utilising data-driven insights to optimise performance and support strategic decision-making
Qualifications and Desirable Experience
Essential:
- 3+ years of proven success as a GP/Primary Care Representative and ready for a Hospital/Specialist sales role.
- Strong understanding of the healthcare environment, including referral pathways and key decision‑making processes.
- Demonstrated ability to build influential relationships and drive sales outcomes.
- Ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make informed, strategic decisions.Passion for improving patient outcomes and delivering high‑quality customer engagement.
- Outstanding communication, presentation, and relationship‑building skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Business, or related field preferred.
Desirable:
- Exposure to or interest in specialist therapeutic areas, ideally Neurology.
- Experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver business objectives.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, especially in interpreting market and customer insights.
Key Responsibilities
Sales and Account Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key healthcare professionals, hospital decision-makers, and other stakeholders within the assigned territory.
- Calling on Specialists, Registrars, Nurses and Pharmacists within an assigned Territory.
- Deliver tailored product presentations to your audience relevant to your objectives and the competent use of relevant literature and resources
- Pre-call planning maximising sales opportunities
- Achieve or exceed sales targets by executing territory plans.
- Contribute to and implement territory business plans that align with the broader sales strategy.
- Maintain and enhance knowledge of products, company developments, customers and competitors.
- Contribute positively to the Sales team through cooperative relationships and collaborative efforts to achieve team goals.
Sales Force Effectiveness
- Leverage sales and market data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities within the territory.
- Use CRM and reporting tools to track and analyse customer engagement, territory coverage, and performance metrics.
- Collaborate with cross-functional team to implement data-driven insights into territory planning and execution strategies.
Market Insights and Reporting
- Monitor and report on market dynamics, including competitor activity and trends.
- Collaborate with marketing, medical and other internal teams to refine strategy.
- Ensure timely and accurate use of CRM systems and tools for reporting sales activities and customer insights.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of all required reports, maintenance of territory call reports, handling of enquiries and complaints quickly and professionally and in accordance with company procedures
- Organise and attend educational meetings and symposiums as required.
Compliance and Ethical Standards
- Adhere to all company procedures & policies in relation to CRM data
- Adhere to all company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards in interactions with healthcare professionals.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant therapeutic areas, product information, and clinical guidelines (including Medicine’s Australia Code of Conduct), ethical standards, and the company's compliance policies.
- Ensure the prompt reporting of adverse events in accordance with company procedures.
