Direct line reporting to Yann Brun, EVP Global Development, Portfolio, Regulatory and BD&L
Dotted line reporting to Fan Zhou, General Manager, Greater China
Scope: Mainland China
Objectives of this role: This role is designed to work closely with both Global and Local teams to contribute to business growth by exploring and identifying business opportunities which are related to China including in-licensing, out-licensing and merge & acquisitions.
Key Accountabilities:
- Position STADA in the Chinese pharmaceutical community as the preferred partner for the European market due to its heritage, knowledge and unique pan-European set up offering best BO opportunities also for the corresponding Chinese partner.
- Identify, negotiate and close acquisition (product) and/or licensing deals with companies located in China, which are looking to expand their geographic footprint in Europe.
- Additionally, evaluate deals for co-development and local manufacturing.
- Ensure that these deals will be within the three-pillar strategy of STADA-

- Consumer Health
- Generics (branded and unbranded) and
- Specialty pharmaceuticals including biosimilars (mostly branded).

- Manage the opportunity evaluation process by leading cross functional teams with Portfolio, Technical development, Finance, IP/Legal, Regulatory and Marketing
- Prepare business cases and create various management approval decks for acquisition cases.
- Negotiate contracts and amendments with partners and play a pivotal role with HQ cross functional teams to conclude and manage contracts to execution.
- Coordinate contract input from other functional areas e.g., Quality, SCM, Sales, etc.
- Create presentations on BD&L opportunities for the review and approval of the leadership team.
- Manage and lead multiple, complex projects with limited supervision.
- Active membership of the STADA BD community
- Prepare annual budgets.
- Prepare and evaluate business plans for potential deals.
- Keep all information tracked and visible including input for Monthly business reviews.
Professional Experience/qualifications:
The candidate should be an individual with a highly commercial approach.
- >10 years of Consumer health or Generic Pharmaceutical industry experience, especially in Business Development.
- Deep knowledge of the Chinese pharmaceutical & Consumer Health industry with strong relationships with the industry leaders and direct access to the top management level of potential partners.
- Understand the basics of pharmaceutical and consumer health forecasting and competitive dynamics in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Understand the basics of financial analysis and product P&L modelling.
- Leadership experience in country specific Business Development transactions, including product identification, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic alliances.
- Ability to evaluate and understand scientific information relative to the development of successful in-licensing and out-licensing programs.
- Track record demonstrating the continuum of experience and success in Business Development, from methodologies for potential target identification through due diligence, assisting in closure of the acquisition, joint venture/strategic alliance.
- Particular industry knowledge and experience as to the "drivers" for revenue growth in a pharmaceutical or consumer health company.
- Understanding of a business model and its components, including finance, capitalization structure, legal liabilities and concerns, and the synergies with STADA's portfolio.
- Negotiate commitments and timelines from internal and external parties; Excellent written and oral communication skills; including Chinese and English.
- Working proficiency in MS Office software tools.
Education:
Degree in Life Sciences, MBA preferred.
