Warehouse & Logistics Team Lead

 

Site based -  Kirkham, Preston

Hours: Monday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm, 41.25 hours per week

 

In this role you will lead and support team members with the effective control warehouse stock within cGMP and Standard Operating guidelines. You will also support despatch and warehousing operations while working within Just In Time (J.I.T.) principles ensuring that orders as despatched and stock is made available in a safe and timely manner to meet customer expectations.

 

This role is 20-30% desk based with remaining time on the shop floor supporting the team. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • To play an integral role in the development and implementation of a logistic plan to facilitate the growth of the business.
  • Deputize for the Warehouse Manager when required. For example, attend operational meetings, directing tasks in the Warehouse and Despatch areas and investigating and communicating issues to management. 
  • Work closely with our off-site warehouse providers, allocating locations and tracking movement of materials between both sites to avoid any delays with production or Despatch.
  • Identifying materials on site that can be stored at our off-site warehouse and work closely with the Procurement Team to ensure deliveries are shipped there instead of coming to our site where possible.
  • Streamline shipping and transportation processes.
  • Produce and monitor sustainability statistics including carbon footprint.
  • Create and maintain a business wide tracker for booking in all deliveries and collections.
  • Continually review freight costs and transportation rates for competitiveness.
  • Monitor freight costs and transportation rates for competitiveness.
  • Communicate with relevant stakeholders to expedite deliveries and ensure we meet OTIF targets.
  • Supporting in the Warehouse such as receiving goods and issuing materials.
  • Supporting Despatch with picking, packing, and shipping orders. 
  • Overseeing the perpetual inventory counts and ensuring the system stock is correct.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience within a distribution, logistics or supply chain environment, producing documentation for the exporting of parcels & pallet type consignments on a global basis.
  •  Strong and effective communication skills.
  • Exceptional organisation with an attention to detail.
  • Must have a can-do attitude and have the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Flexible and adaptable 
  • Forklift Truck Licence (ideally counterbalance, Flexi and Ped Stacker)
