Job Purpose :
The Material Planner is responsible for the Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) process and its successful operation within the APO/SAP system or manual by excel. The objective of the role is to create, and maintain valid material requirement plans that meet the needs of the Site Production Plan.
The Material Planner interact with Procurement Buyer, to understand the proposed Supply Plan for long term supply planning, scheduling, requirement planning and ensuring accuracy of related requisitions (accurate quantity and delivery date) in SAP and in accordance with Implemented Supply Model and corresponding Planning Time Fence. Informing Procurement regarding material requirements that should not be executive for Procurement.
The Material Planner is responsible for the accuracy of Purchase Requisitions in SAP (date and quantity) which the Procurement Buyer will use in the Purchasing process
Major Accountabilities :
- Expert in SAP/APO MRP fully exploiting alerts or manual by excel, and exception messages, to enable materials management “by exception”. Expert for material planning & inventory parameters
- Constant monitoring of material requirement and system generated messages and reports, making appropriate business decisions balancing the need to change short-term material delivery plans vs. the need to keep stability in the plans
- Managing material requisitions to deliver stock levels, for each material, in accordance to inventory policy through analysis of all supply chain factors. Maintain all material inventories between the defined Min and Max inventory levels.
- Weekly coordination with Procurement to ensure that forecasted Supplier deliveries are aligned with the Material Plan and the needs of the Site.
- Weekly coordination with Quality to ensure the forecasted Material releases are aligned with the Material Plan and the needs of the Site.
- Weekly coordination with Production planners in order to continuously align the Material Plan with the Production Plan.
- Evaluation of change requests from the Production planner and informing responsible Procurement Buyer, change that require a change to open Purchase Orders (e.g. cancellation, delay or expedite). Coordinate feasibility evaluation with Procurement and provide feedback to the Production Planner.
- Continuous Improvement. Identify losses in the end-to-end Material Supply Chain and propose improvements with purchasing and operations departments
- Provide input to Inhouse Supply Planner for Critical Materials RCCP
- Oversee and in relationship with purchasing to improve supplier performance
- Reflect material changes in SAP system

Job Dimensions:
- Subordinate Functions: Individual contributor role based on technical capabilities in supply and planning processes and systems, and ability influence at all levels across the cluster/site
- Financial responsibility : Significant indirect financial responsibility: The Site Material Requirement planning directly impacts product availability, and sales for Stada commercial, the working capital across the end to end Stada supply Chain and the operating efficiency of the Site
- Impact on the organisation: The ability of a Material Planner to contribute to the setting of the optimal Site Production Plan balancing Demand, Supply ,and Cost has a significant impact on Stada commercial for product availability and for the stability and operating efficiency of Stada global Operations ( e.g. Inventory and Conversion cost)
Background:
- Education: University degree in Technology or Economics, Business.
- Languages: Local Site language with capability in English as a second language
- Experience:
- Knowledge of shipping and receiving – material planners plan and verify incoming and outgoing shipments and fully understand the process of preparing and receiving shipments
- Knowledge of manufacturing process – managing the supply of materials for manufacturing means material planners are highly skilled in all processes related to the manufacturing their company performs
- Critical thinking – material planners can think clearly and rationally about every task at hand. They often work independently to review logistics and can analyze situations to solve problems and create solutions
- Time management – material planners must keep tight schedules and possess the ability to prioritize, schedule, and set and meet manufacturing goals
- Organization skills – managing a production line requires coordinating multiple parts of the manufacturing process to run smoothly, so material planners must stay organized and keep production flowing at an appropriate pace
- Communication skills – material planners work within a team and are often the only point of contact between the manufacturing department and suppliers
- Minimum of 5-years’ experience as a Supply/Production Planner within Pharma or other batch production, make to stock, manufacturing environments.
- Minimum of 5-years’ experience with SAP MPS and MRP and APO SNP and/or PP/DS.
- Working knowledge of the end-to-end manufacturing site supply chain processes including demand management, S&OP, production planning, capacity planning, material planning and procurement, order fulfilment, master data and life-cycle management. Working knowledge of MRP2 is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, at all levels, in a manufacturing Cluster/Site environment.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across boundaries (functional, cultural, language) and form effective working relationships with colleagues
- Demonstrated change management and process management experience is preferred: demonstrated usage of data to drive process improvements.
